Dear Friend of Human Rights,
Please accept your V.I.P. invitation to join me, Jose (Cha-Cha) Jimenez and Kathleen
Cleaver, Omar Lopez, Carlos Flores, Iris Morales and other community activists at the
40 Year Struggle: Young Lords celebration, to be held from: 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
Sunday, September 21st 2008 at the San Lucas United Church of Christ, 2914 West
North Ave., Chicago, IL.
You will meet other distinguished members of human rights movements, listen to relevant
speakers and enjoy film clips, music and poetry. Even more important, you will be a part
of a memorable homage to the Young Lords Movement and to the continued struggle for
Puerto Rico and Latino self determination and neighborhood empowerment.
Today Humboldt Park runs the risk of losing its Latino population, in the same
displacement manner, as it did in the neighborhoods of: Old Town, Lakeview, Wicker
Park and Lincoln Park. That is why it is significant that the event is being held in
Humboldt Park; also in the midst of a national Immigration Justice Movement.
If you want to be a part of this historical and empowerment event; please let us hear from
you. R.S.V.P. with your email to:
